What Happened to Annabell?
“Annabell should have died long ago—and often did—but there’s more than one way to be immortal.”

I was approached by 84th Street Press to design a cover for their new anthology of stories about a peculiar headstone and the woman behind it. The stories all explored the question of what happened to the titular Annabell, born in the mid-1800s, but whose date of death is mysteriously absent from her grave. Because each story featured the authors’ own versions of Annabell, and are written in different genres, the cover design had to be flexible enough to work for all of them.

To accomplish this, I avoided including an image of a specific woman, instead going with a flower motif, with a black arch to invoke the headstone. I delivered three versions of the cover: paperback, hardcover, and e-book, each of which had their own unique specs that needed to be considered in the design. I also provided the publishers with a template for promoting the book on social media.
